Maths Problem Solver is HEXAVO's own study app. Students photograph a question from a textbook, worksheet or exam paper and see how to work it out, one step at a time.
The challenge
Answer apps make it easy to copy a result and learn nothing. Students need to see the method, find where their own working went wrong, and practise the topic behind the question — and the product has to be sustainable with a generous free tier.
Our approach

Turned a photo of a problem into a worked solution broken into steps a student can follow and check against their own working.

Added a 'check my working' mode that shows where the method went wrong, not just that the final answer is incorrect.

Built a lesson library and practice quizzes that track which topics a student has covered.

Saved solved problems to the student's account so they follow them to a new device for revision.

Designed Free, Plus and Pro plans with in-app subscriptions, plus an invite-a-friend reward that gives both people a month of Plus.
